Abstract

Public transportations have the most important role in the development of modern societies. So the existence of traffic in the modern societies caused different kinds of problems and difficulties in these societies. However the rail transport has a positive effect on the passengers’ movements and even goods. It is necessary to examine different factors of this type of transport such as travel convenience, time of travel and the amount of energy consumption in order to enhance its performances. One of the best methods in the reduction of energy consumption process is implementing the optimized profile of train speed. There are a variety of algorithms and methods based on the energy efficiency. This thesis aims at finding a linear hypothetical model with selective data considering dynamic motion of train including slope of the track and examining 3 stations with the lowest and highest slope , with 3varibales (1,3and5) using imperialist competitive algorithm (ICA) in MATLAB and programming coding in M file to get optimized speed profile which results in less fuel consumption. Finally the results taken from ICA and genetic method will be compared with regard to the number of recourse to the cost function and convergence speed.
